Dr Eberwein has extensive experience in this field and as well as being a GP is Level 7 certified and also fully registered with the JCCP. The JCCP vet aesthetics practitioners and set industry standards in safe aesthetic practice. It is chaired by Professor David Sines. We are specialists in treating both male and female hormone dependant alopecia. We recommend tailoring treatment to the individual rather than a one size fits all. 

This is done via an online consultation with Dr Eberwein and the use of genetic tests. The most optimal treatment can then be provided. This includes oral, topical and nutritional modalities. 

Please note that alopecia areata, and scaring alopecia require treatment that can only be managed in a hospital. We are not able to treat this but can make recommendations and onward referrals for you.

We provide a holistic approach to testosterone replacement in men.

Unlike the NHS we are more understanding and informed regarding the use and administration of TRT. Many GPs will not prescribe TRT unless total testosterone is below 8 nmol/L and do not understand how many men can be above this level and yet still experience symptoms of low testosterone. GPs will also not start testosterone themselves but will refer to specialists in endocrinology, which in today’s current climate with the NHS can have a very long waiting time. Again there is no guarantee that testosterone will be prescribed.

Unlike many other services Dr Stephen Eberwein will be your own personal doctor who will be available to answer your queries and address your problems and concerns that arise during your treatment. You will always see Dr Eberwein and not shuffled around to numerous other doctors or repeat prescription pharmacists, who you have not built a professional yet personal relationship with and do not understand your personal circumstances wants and needs. Being your own personal doctor means that Dr Eberwein will also know your treatment plan and unique issues, as he would have developed that plan in the first place with you.

Many large chain pharmacies now provide TRT and hair loss treatments but they are not specialists in this area. They may well be safe (as they only provide very limited treatment) but they cannot and do not provide a tailored bespoke service with the continuity of care as can be provide by Eberwein Medical. We are not a tick box medical service but rather a “patient is a unique individual service”.

Continuity of care is vital with TRT to ensure side effects are minimised and optimal treatment is obtained. We constantly keep up to date with this rapidly growing area to ensure out patients receive the best care possible

We also specialise in bodybuilders who no longer use anabolic steroids but as a result of their long term use have a permanent reduction in their own natural testosterone production. These particular patients may benefit more and be happier administering injectable forms of testosterone including hCG. They may also benefit from achieving replacement doses in the higher end of the normal range.

There are strict guidelines regarding who can be administered TRT and these are set out the British Society for Sexual Medicine (BSSM). Other than the cost of blood tests, which are required and we make no profit from, if a patient does not fit the criteria then they will not be charged. We can, if the patient chooses, explore other reason for their symptoms such as low thyroid levels, iron overload, diet, nutrition and lifestyle. There will be a charge for this service.

Returning testosterone levels to normal may trigger male pattern hair loss if there is an underlying genetic propensity. Management of this is discussed using oral and topical medications. Both Finasteride and Dutasteride can be used orally and topically. Topical anti-androgens such as spironolactone may also be of benefit. The side effect profiles of these medications are always addressed and management is always based upon this and closely reviewed.

As well as lifestyle and nutritional advice, Dr Eberwein is able to provide the medical management of obesity with Saxenda and Wegovy. We have long realised they weight loss IS NOT simply a matter of will power but is far more complex, with profound effects from our genetics. Your weight loss journey isn’t simply a matter of us dispensing medication and forgetting about you but we address you holistically. We want to ensure you maintain a healthier weight and support you psychologically and medically.   

Genetic tests are a recent addition to our treatment plan. These are able to provide individually tailored diets to maximise weight loss but also to gain or maintain muscle mass. Patients have reported they are now able to eat a broader range of foods and are better able to avoid particular foods causing them to individually gain more weight (due to their unique genetics)
